Testing Times for The Trade
Ellpro Timber, like many of our colleagues in the Fencing and Landscaping trade are finding we are having to adapt one way or another to the current extraordinary circumstances. Who knows how long the situation surrounding the coronavirus outbreak will affect the UK and beyond? On the eve of the busiest period of the year for our trade, we are facing a lockdown across the country and merchants will be doing everything they can to ensure the safety of their staff and customers. Some merchants will have to close for the duration. Some will have systems in place which allow them to take orders remotely and deliver materials and goods without close interaction. For our part, we want to reassure our customers that we are working extremely hard to minimise disruption to their supply. Technology allows us to work from home and all members of the Ellpro Team are available to help however they can. For the time being at least, stock continues to arrive, ships are scheduled as normal and at the time of writing, deliveries are still being made.
Beyond this uncertainty and confusion, things will return to normal and merchants will be keen to deal with customer enquiries which have been stacking up. Looking forward to a busy Spring, our volumes of fresh stock have been increased and we have plentiful stock across our full range of garden products. In anticipation of the extra demand from homeowner's eager to finally get around to repairing that winter damage, we have ramped up stocks of our fencing panel products. Also, it is clear that many homeowners are going to be spending Easter and possibly the months beyond here in the UK. Many will be wishing to remain at home. Consequently, the public will be looking to improve their outdoor spaces. We are hearing from our customers already, that they have seen a huge increase in demand for products to complete larger projects in the garden, such as landscape sleepers and upgrades to fencing. Likewise, items including wooden trellis and garden furniture have all been selling well as people look to enhance their surroundings and make the most of a bad situation. Our complete range of garden products is warehoused under cover at our Wisbech terminal alongside all our fencing stock. This is hugely beneficial for our customers as it allows them to pick exactly the mix of products they need, conveniently dropped off on a single delivery as regularly as required.
